"SUGGESTIONS TO HELP PEOPLE GET READY TO MOVE"

• Read The Consumers Guide to Moving in Illinois, or the OCE-100 form supplied with your infopacket to understand your rights and responsibilities.

• Have all questions answered before selecting your mover, making sure you understand the "ins and outs" connected with your move.  A planned move is always a successful one!

• Select your moving date with your moving consultant basing the dates on facts that you know are as correct  as the information from your title company and lawyer.  Please notify your moving company at least 48 hours in advance of any changes you need to make.

• If you have a change in the quantities of items that you wish to transport, notify your consultant in order to obtain a revised estimate.  Please realize that if you do not inform your carrier of additional items that you are planning to ship, you will not be protected or guaranteed payments in case of estimate overrun.

• Please do not give your mover boxes to ship filled with any liquids that are canned or glass containers, aerosol propelled containers, liquor, turpentine, explosives, ammunitions, paint, bleach or anything else that is corrosive, combustible or flammable.  If such items should spill or ignite on the truck, damages to your household goods will not be accepted as a claim by the insurance carrier.

• On the day of your move your driver will explain the bill of lading, and after signing the proper paperwork, your mover will commence your job.  If any discrepancies are found by the driver that might cause the cost of your move to go over the estimated price, you will be requested to sign an amendment to the bill of lading acknowledging that any extra services performed that were not listed on the estimate will raise the cost of the estimate and will be paid C.O.D.

• All clothes and linens can be lft in dressers to be moved.  Please make sure dressers are cleared of the following; money, jewelry, coin collections, or anything else that is breakable or valuable.  The cargo valuation insurance does not provide coverage for these items because they are not classified as household goods.  All valuable items and important  documents should be removed from your residence to a safe place of keeping (including Bank Statements, I.R.S. papers, birth certificates, titles, deeds, etc.)
