Household Moving Basics 101: Logistically, in a local move setting, the time it takes to load is always double the time of the unload.(Assuming all other pickup and delivery conditions
being equal, of course) I.E.; a move that takes six hours to load and unload, will require four hours for the load and two hours to unload. The average person, in an effort to project the cost
of the double move, would be incorrect in just doubling the single move cost. Let's do a numerical example to illustrate what occurs in the real world of moving: Single Move Example
( House to house ) 6 hours to load and unload to a regular house means 4 hours loading, and 2
hours unloading, right? This means 4 hours of prepping the house, carrying furniture out of house,
padding, and/or stretch wrapping furniture and figuring out which pieces of furniture go with which other pieces in the grand scheme of loading the furniture into the truck. At the destination, in just two hours,
the new house is prepped, the pieces are just unpadded and carried to the proper location. When a double move is required, the loading of the truck portion from the former example would hold
true, yet the load into storage would be roughly the same as the load into the truck because of the re-stacking/arrangement/manipulation of furniture into storage crates ( 7'x 7'x 5' ) which are a tighter fit, .i.e.
limited physical displacement, taking more time to get it right. Also, moving to a self-storage locker for longer term storage considerations, will take additional time for the mover to remove their pads and put
on paper pads. Paper pads are a special product Peacock can provide to wrap and protect your wooden pieces going into self-storage. Therefore, the load onto the truck is 4 hours, the load into storage is 4 hours
making 8 total hours for the move into storage. The move out of storage will be 4 hours to load the truck, and 2 hours to unload totaling 6 hours. 8 hours + 6 hours makes 14 total hours for the double
move. 6 hours for the original singular move, multiplied by 2 and 1/3 makes 14 hours. If the singular move costs $1,000.00, it is safe to assume the double move will cost $2,333.33, instead of the
'on-the-surface' guestimate of $2,000.00 one would be naturally inclined to make. Trailer storage basically eliminates the double handling by allowing the furniture to be loaded One time only.
The furniture then remains on the trailer until our customers are ready to take delivery! It really is as simple as that! No double handling, or the extra labor costs associated with double
handling. Your highly trained sales representative will tailor make a program which best suits your needs and situation based upon how much furniture you have and the length of time you will need for
storage. Please call Peacock and set up a free estimate now for more details!
